Mission Beach is surrounded by beautiful World Heritage rainforest, and with guests travelling in and out of the area, it’s a timely reminder to keep an eye out for our incredible local wildlife.

Local wildlife carers recently shared this little cassowary chick with us after it became separated and distressed while following its father across a road. We’re hoping this chick has recovered.

As the caption in the picture explains, cassowary chicks often cross well after the parent, so if you see an adult crossing, please slow down and be prepared to stop. A few extra moments of care can make all the difference.

Let’s all do our part to help protect these remarkable birds and ensure everyoneβ€”people and wildlife alikeβ€”can enjoy this beautiful region safely. πŸ’šπŸŒΏ
